“We hope not anyway”….who is” We”?
When I wrote the song was fascinated by a ancient Sumerian story about the Tower of Babel.In the earliest versions of the story the children of the gods and the giants rebelled against their “parents”(the gods) and tried to build a ziggurat that could reach them in the sky. The gods defeated them and then confused the language of mankind as a fail safe to prevent rebellion in the future.
So why keep mankind confused and separated? A interesting attitude. One that smells of both arrogance and fear …
